Still Not Convinced? Check Out Twitter’s FollowFriday

Despite its obvious benefits for communication, interaction and connecting, Twitter still finds itself labeled as a fad.

(And my apologies to Chris Brogan who asked us not to talk about Twitter in 2009 – my bad!).

Maybe it is a fad – maybe the detractors are right. But in the meantime, if you want to see why it’s so popular and why it’s hailed as one of the friendliest social media networks around, look no further than FollowFriday, where people all over the world recommend names for others to follow.

That’s true interaction and social media community building right there. We live in a word-of-mouth market – Twitter users are taking that to the next level.

Go to the Twitter search option now, enter #followfriday and meet your new best friends today. See you there.

Hi Danny,My Thought on is a Twitter a fad? I'm going to say no. Twitter will be here as long as people find it useful. And were really at a point were people, are learning what they can do with it.

Great post, I'll check it out! Thanks for the info!

For my part - I gained around 30 followers today (Thanks!) and probably followed another 30 on my side.

As far as Twitter for business - not sure about the reference, but honestly LinkedIn and Twitter are my two biggest lead sources. By Far. They have increased the subscribed readership of our blog and the referrals to our corporate site. Is that better than paid Google keywords or email blasts? Yes. We get looks from email blasts, but my social media followers read what they find. Big difference!

That's a great point you make, Mike, and one of the reasons I've never been a huge fan of Google ads. They might put you on the front page in a separate banner, but there's still no guarantee anyone is going to click on you.

Compare that to Stumbleupon's advertising model, where you're guaranteed traffic to your site, and there's a BIG difference (although you do pay more than Google per click).

And yes, a blog link on Twitter is far more likely to find a receptive audience than a potential find through a search engine.

Great post, Danny! Again! This is quickly becoming a must read blog for me. As for Twitter and #followfriday, so that's what's going on! Been pretty scarce on Twitter the past couple days due to client work, but I noticed the place was rockin'!

As for Twitter for business? Love it! Twitter is one of the best things that has happened to my freelance writing business in a long time!

Loving FollowFriday (even though I was neglected :). Serious credit goes to @micah for the idea and @chrisbrogan for spreading it! I personally think that Chris was talking about Twitter for business. Connecting is something we should all be talking about and I dont think there is a better place to do that right now than Twitter and similar SoMe sites.

Right now Twitter is showing "Twitter is stressing out a bit right now, so this feature is temporarily disabled." when you try to search. Guess follow Friday blew them up.
