Recently I wrote about why I was moving my #followfriday recommendations from Twitter to this blog. So, without further ado, here are my recommendations for this week.
Something a little different this week (and I realize it goes against my reasons for taking it to the blog – just listing names – but there’s a reason this week).
Everyone featured today fits into many different categories but one thing they all have in common is that they’re proud wearers of the 12for12k avatars. Designed by iGoByDoc, it’s a fun way of showing their support for a worthy cause outside of normal (and much appreciated) donations.
Apart from that, they’re all incredibly cool people doing amazing things offline as well (and I’ll be featuring them in much more depth in upcoming #FollowFiday posts, if I haven’t already).
So, what are you waiting for – check them out (each link opens in a new window so you don’t need to click back)! They are:
@_sarakate_; @DominickEvans; @judithsthoughts; @LibbyUnwin; @JamesAWoods; @allenmireles; @arikhanson; @bluestreak23; @HighEdSalesGuy; @iamkhayyam; @iGoByDoc; @JASunshine1011; @JGoldsborough; @JonAston; @KatieMDesigns; @KyleJudkins; @mickeygomez; @MSchechter; @nataliekeiko; @PromoMarketer; @rachelakay; @raekaye; @shannoncherry; @SocialPMChick; @iggypintado; @StaciJShelton; @suzemuse; @thebassman; @ZenMommy; @Rich_at_Dell; @mjleonard; @websuccessdiva; @12for12k; @MarketingProfs; @abarcelos; @AnneHyde; @nsbmom; @freelancerant; @AvenueZ; @_djh; @briancarter; @tmaduri; @concierge; @GinaLaGuardia; @jamiecalder; @johnhaydon; @liajen; @nakeva; @ramartijr; @SarahRobinson; @southplatte; @CherylFehlberg; @storyassistant.
If, by chance, I’ve missed anyone out, please let me know and I’ll sort that immediately!
Thanks for being who you are guys – your support means everything, as does everyone behind the 12for12k idea.
Normal #FollowFriday recommendations will resume next week. Have a great weekend!

Amazing, Danny – what a fun video! Thanks so much for including me. It’s wonderful seeing all of the 12for12k-ers listed in one place – a huge help in finding (and connecting with) those I wasn’t aware of yet. Well done!
The music video slideshow really caps it off. It’s just good old fashioned fun!

Thanks for a great post. I just followed all the 12for12ers I wasn’t already connected to as I figure that any friend of this great cause is a friend of mine. Thanks again for including me in such illustrious company – even if I didn’t make the final video cut
Cheers and keep up the great work, Iggy
Erk – how the heck did THAT happen? Especially with your name being there?
Sorry mate – will get that sorted, and thanks for all your support!
All remixed and up-to-date, bud – cheers!

Danny, how was the response to putting your followfriday list on the blog? I tried to do this, it didn’t work out too well. Please let me know:-)

Hey there Brandon,
It’s actually been pretty well received. I’ve had people mentioning to me on Twitter and email that they prefer the more personal format, and comments on the posts themselves seem to bear this out.
There have also been some really nice blog posts referencing the new format. So, for the most part, it’s gone over pretty well.
When you say yours didn’t work out too well, do you think there’s a particular reason for this? Is it the format – have you had any feedback why it’s not preferred? Sometimes change can be harder to sell to people who are used to things a certain way – it could be that as well?
Hi Danny,
Good to know. I think the issue was a lot of people didn’t like leaving Twitter to see the recommendations, and I’ve found that to be the case with a lot of things.
But I think after reading your post here I will give it another whirl.
One of the things you could try (and not sure if you did already) is an introductory post explaining why you’re taking it away from Twitter. Explain why you see more value in personalized recommendations and information about that person as opposed to normal #followfiday lists. I found that helped me and didn’t leave people thinking it wasn’t worth checking out?
