The Powerful Effect of Simplicity

Suddenly things seem crystal clear to me ...Last week was a crazy one for me. I’ve just started a big new project (which I’ll be sharing soon) and getting to grips with it has been information overload from day one (although all good fun).

Add to that some really bad wisdom tooth pain, a lot of community planning for a special November 12for12k collaboration as well as normal day-to-day stuff and little sleep, and I was feeling a little bit frayed.

Then an email landed in my inbox that changed everything with two simple words: “Thank you.”

The email was from Sasha H. Muradali, a great upcoming PR pro over in Miami who has a pretty cool blog over at Little Pink Book PR. It mentioned her newest post, and the fact that the post was tied to one of Sasha’s earliest ones in April of this year.

It turns out that I was one of the first to share Sasha’s blog post on Twitter, and this email from her was to say thank you for that. And that just floored me and made me smile in a big way. I know Sasha’s a busy person; I know she has a lot of things on the go; I know that the reference Sasha was making was almost 6 months ago.

Yet she still remembered, and took the time to say thanks personally. And these two little words turned a frazzled face into a wide grin. Or, as Sasha herself put it, “all gushy feeling semi-girlie inside” (yes, you got me, Sasha!).

There’s something for us all to learn from Sasha. Agree?

This is how the master does it. Short, sweet, compelling.

I know how Sasha feels, because you just tweeted about my fledgling blog, you big sweetheart, you! And it made my day.

“Thank you.” The two words with the most power to uplift, inspire, and attract more good. Well done, Sasha.
    Thank YOU, Danny!

I love Sasha's Little Pink Book, I love that she sticks to her convictions and is passionate about what she feels is right. It comes as no surprise that she would send you an email thank you; she's always very receptive on Twitter as well.

I think it speaks volumes, not only on Sasha's part, but on yours Danny to take the time to highlight her talent in a thankful post yourself.

All that said, it's all gushy, warm fuzzies all around–something we need reminders of in this tumultuous global climate.

Sorry for the wisdom tooth pain, I just had one taken out about 2 weeks ago. :(

If it's short and compelling you're after Kat, you may want to stay away during the week. ;-)

Anyone that has the passion to write a blog post a day for 5 days straight is always an instant hit with me – happy to share and look forward to seeing your new blog continue to grow. :)

Thanks Sara – I agree, Sasha's blog has had me laughing and reacting angrily in equal measures. And that's from who the content is about, not angry at Sasha! :)

One of the things I've been reading about lately is the Gen Y effect of being conscious of good while being smart and knowledgeable and in tune with what's going on around you. Sasha pretty much sums up that to perfection – it's a pleasure knowing her.

You have my sympathy for your tooth – hopefully you're feeling better now!

Amazing how just the smallest of gestures can make the biggest of differences. Great to see you have people around you that can offer that, with no ask in return except to make you feel better. Perfect. :)

I always say that it's the little things that matter most, in business, as well as in “real” life. Always nice to have reminders about how powerful those things really are.

After a long day resting — due to the doctor's order, I felt a little 'discouraged' for not making up to my usual online routine, replying emails, comments, writing… It has been rainy heavily outside, so had to cancel outings too. It's a gloomy day alright, until I checked my inbox, noticing an encouraging comment left by a reader; also a warm tweet from a very good blogger friend of mine, both given me the cure of the day — I got a big grin on my face, feeling blessed for remembered by these kind individuals.

A simple gesture can be a big motivation for one; which is why I always believe a small pat at the back, or a simple 'thank you' as you shared can mean a great deal to someone. Never stop doing those 'little things' which will snow-balled into a huge change, or example to people's lives.

And Danny, you've just did it yourself by sharing the story with us. A simple post but with a profound meaning. Thank you.

Perhaps that's the key, the element everyone must remember: Be humble.

The moment you don't show humility is the moment it's all about you and nobody else. It's human to forget to be humble, so thanks for reminding us, Sasha.

The simple statement of thank you, thanks, mahalo, or gracias can go a long way. Letting others know that you appreciate them and that you want to take the time to thank them for something that they did.
