Oh yeah. Said something in one of the rants that kind of gave me a clue, then I found out 'the troll' was working there. I'm 99.99% sure I know the troll personally.

Here's the type of revenge I like though. I may have the troll over for dinner and make things oh so awkward someday. But, never really call the troll out. :D

I hear you bud. Gut instinct says, "I want to take you down". But gut instinct doesn't quite work online as it does off. Like you say, Google certainly never forgets when you make a stand and see the results.

To be fair, I don't think Kurt would have expected the reaction he's received, but at this moment in time he's a virtual leper. Whether he can still command his position at the Post-Dispatch after this? Time will tell...

The guy lives in the same town and you know him? HA! That is beyond awesome, mate. Great self-control :)

I had missed the Kurt Greenbaum drama this week. I've followed Kurt since I first signed up on Twitter a couple of years ago, and have had various interactions with him. This whole thing is um... interesting. I think this is a great case for ignoring trolls who stop by and comment on posts occasionally. If you must delete, okay, but going so far to call the commenter's employer is a bit over the top.

I'm actually speaking from experience here. I have had a troll who stops by and rants on my posts on occasion. It's been going on for over a year. I'll admit that in the beginning it bothered me. After identifying this person's IP address, their employer was clearly identified in the information and it revealed two things.

1. The troll lives in the same town as I.
2. I know the troll personally.

Some friends encouraged me to call the troll's employer and get the troll in trouble because I know the troll's boss personally. It was very tempting, but in the end, I haven't and I don't think I ever will. The comments are kind of funny now anyway. I also feel a little bit sorry for the troll. Clearly the troll has some issues to be so obsessed with my insignificant blog.

My point is, Kurt probably should have let it slide. Ignore the troll. If you can't ignore the troll, delete the troll's comments. Then move on with your life. No reason to get caught up in a petty fight with a troll, or worse, have the fight blow up all over the Internet because you took the fight to another level.

My two cents for what it's worth.
