I love Elliott Smith!
.-= John Haydon´s most recent blog post …How to unsubscribe from my email list =-.Great concept with the video blog Danny.
This is why your community loves you – you are real to them (us).
Excellent!
.-= Frank Dickinson´s most recent blog post …Our First Conversation =-.This video was a stupid idea… glad you tried it
Love Elliot Smith! If you ever want a treat, try to find some of the covers (especially Between The Bars) that Mutual Admiration Society did. P.S. Didnt actually think the video was stupid, just couldnt help myself. Enjoyed the tape and appreciate the reminder to take risks!
.-= Michael Schechter´s most recent blog post …Gaga for Freshwater Pearls! =-.hi Danny,
I enjoyed the message!
Extra tip – the location for recording videos gives a good background.
Next time also have a large white sheet or Polystyrene board on your left to reflect natural light onto the other side of your face (or just play with different angles)
Again, Well done!Best wishes
Chris
Danny, I loved this and I totally agree! I loved your examples and I learned much — for example, I didn’t know that about Star Wars. This has been a very new try sort of year for me already. I even did my falling down part. (check out the latest blog post for a pic of my black eye –
. I’m always open to trying and I liked the video option today. I like your written blogs too but it is fun to hear your voice. I will keep my eyes
open for more.
.-= Julie Walraven´s most recent blog post …Cultivating Networks —> Right Place, Right Time =-.I absolutely love it! Great message, Danny! Like Julie, I’m trying all kinds of new things lately. And if I listened the cranky voice in my head, or any naysayers, I’d never get anything done!
.-= Lisa Marie Mary´s most recent blog post …Glee – The Road to Sectionals, Disc 4 =-.I love Elliott Smith too (very very much.) I 2nd all the great comments above… Without risk taking we’d all be nothing but meat led to slaughter.
.-= Christina Kingston´s most recent blog post …Step Into The Twitter Time Machine =-.I totally agree and sometimes we get stuck on an idea and never pursue it and/or have this fear that we won’t make it. Which is beyond stupid.
I think stupid ideas is a way to cover up the fear which we have of pursuing something. Like I read in another blog you can have a million books and keep reading but until you actually “DO” something than you haven’t learned anything.
Great message. I wish I could be as passionate as you are about Star Wars but I guess mine is reserved for hockey.
.-= Jamei Favreau´s most recent blog post …Social Media to Save the NHL (Last installment a bit late) =-.Damn! This is stupid! I mean stupidly good, good message. There are a lot of very successful people who never knew that their ideas were really stupid, impossible to achieve etc, etc. But they did it anyway, largely not knowing the limits others tried to impose upon them.
.-= wojtek Hoch´s most recent blog post …Protected: Posting a simple post =-.Nothing stupid with having ideas and following through on them…Stupid is lighting a cat of fire…that’s stupid.
The real battle is within. Breaking a belief system that prevents us from acting upon our ideas. Funny how some people can turn their thoughts into action while others stay in a dream like state.
I don’t know if its a learned or innate behavior but I do know it can be changed. But like iron is forged in fire, ideas only materialize in action…
Your post reminded me that I might use a little more action…its so easy to go back to sleep…
Cheers…
.-= Serge Lachapelle´s most recent blog post …Stratégie internet et réseaux sociaux: Le fossé des valeurs =-.Danny,
This is such an important idea! I’m not entirely sure why we let go of that child-like desire to see what happens. This idea has been the theme of the week for me. I ran across Gever Tulley’s TED talk (http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/gever_tulley_on_5_dangerous_things_for_kids.html)about tinkering. What would happen if we let ourselves explore our world? Would failure be the worst thing that could happen?
Many times we label something stupid because it is such a life-changing idea (for us) and we fear condemnation. Our need to belong to a group whether it is family,long-time friends, or a new group of peers can cause us to think that we must put limits on our willingness to act. But…what if the risks we take make us more lovable and desirable?

Nice video and nice message.
There are a lot of experts and naysayers out there telling us what we have to do to succeed on our blog.
If we spend our time letting them rule our lives nothing will ever change for us.
