Why John Haydon Rocks – Literally
One of the folks that I’ve been fortunate to get to know through social media is John Haydon.
Hailing from Cambridge, Massachusetts, John’s someone that inspires me every day. He’s an outstanding ambassador when it comes to social media for social good; a great social media blogger; and a key part of the 12for12k community.
I finally had the good fortune to meet John in real life when we collaborated on last year’s Tweetsgiving project, and met up in Florida to help with the social media side of the campaign. A nicer and more genuine guy you couldn’t hope to meet.
Simply put, John is someone I’m honoured to call a friend.
But what’s really cool about John is that he’s a pretty damn funky singer-songwriter too. From his own stuff to covers of classics, you can see that John really loves his music – and that’s always alright with me.
If you don’t know John already, check out his blog, or find him on Twitter or a number of other places online. Your life will be better for it – I promise.

Wow – I get to comment right behind two of my favorite people!
Thanks Danny for writing this and for your daily inspiration in my life and work.
I can say this without any hesitation ->I would not be blogging today if it wasn’t for John Haydon. I watched him from the sidelines for a while before putting up FrankDickinson.me. The way he handles topics and makes them so practical for his readers struck me early on. His mixture of both personal and business through social media inspired me.
His utter coolness – hell, what can I say – he’s the dude.
Thanks John for the conversation about religion and spirituality that sparked our friendship. I look forward to finally meeting face to face – soon.

And I get to join 3 of my favorite guys here in the comments. Yay! Great spotlight on a real star, Danny. Like you, John is off the charts with his generosity, his knowledge, and his willingness to share with the rest of us. When they were handing out the big egos, you guys missed out. (Thank God!) Frank, too! The fact that you’re both part of 12for12K and Tweetsgiving says a lot. And honestly, it inspires trust. Keep standing your ground, John. It looks like a pretty high spot to me. And let’s get that coffee, soon, okay? Because unlike Danny Brown, mine won’t involve airfare.

“off the charts” – no pun intended?

Frank – I’ll never forget how we met as well. It began on Twitter, in the form of a discussion on faith – Buddhist / Christian similarities and evolved from there.
You’re one of my favorite folks to follow as well!
Take care!

Yes, Danny! Come for coffee. Heck, we can make that “lobstah” if you prefer.

Danny,
Fan moment-It is really lovely how you highlight what is most special about someone! These sorts of posts are such a joy to read!
John is definitely a treasure trove and I consider myself blessed that he is a “neighbour” of mine! I’m looking forward to our next 12 For 12K adventure!
By the way, Danny, when are you gracing us with your presence in Boston? LOL

So that’s two requests for “Please come to Boston.” just saying.

Danny,
I really don’t know what to say, beyond “thanks”.
You already know this, but it’s worth saying again here: I have grown from your example of putting others before your own agenda, your openness and honesty about mistakes you’ve made (granted there aren’t many), and putting goodwill into action.
You, my friend, have surely earned the Order Of The Thistle.
Have a great Sunday!
John
