A Special Friday Thank You from @JugnooMe to @HootSuite

They say “imitation” is the sincerest form of flattery – in which case, Jugnoo would love to thank our friends over at HootSuite.

Back in April, we came out of closed beta and opened up our platform to 1,000 users in an open beta. To celebrate this jump in status, we created a video in-house that shared an example of one of our users, the Bandit Coffee Group in Toronto.

The video showed how owner Kirk used Jugnoo to be effective on social media – connecting with customers and promoting offers – while still doing all their day-to-day business. Here’s the video below.

Simple. Fun. Clear.

Yesterday, social media dashboard folks HootSuite released a video that “…illustrates just how simple and useful social media can be.”

It uses an example of a bread and coffee place and how the owner connects with customers and promotes offers. Here’s the HootSuite video below:

It’s also simple. Fun. Clear. And the tune is jaunty!

So we’d just like to say thanks, HootSuite – great job and we appreciate the homage! ;-)

In fact, we were so enamoured by the video, we sent these cupcakes to Hootsuite’s Vancouver offices – hope you enjoyed, guys!

Thank you cupcakes from Jugnoo to HootSuite

These two videos don't seem very similar beyond the setting of a cafe/coffee shop/bakery

@FB Ninjaz Agreed - once you remove the way the owner uses their iPad to update and create offers, and take pictures to share, and then the customers that show these offers to the business owner, don't seem very similar at all... ;-)

Perhaps this isn't the best post to share this on but it's at the forefront of my thoughts as I read above...

Having been involved in the early stages of development for several "social dashboards" with built-in intelligence gathering, analytics, etc. a question that I am often 'stuck' on is *what is the hook?*

What does this system do that will make me, and the 1000's of customers we want, take the time and devote the effort to switch from one social dashboard to another. More often than not there is a requirement for more than just a fresh new look or a single feature or two...

Still thinking...

@Darren Sproat  That's a great point, mate, and something we're always looking at - "where can we take this feature?".

We have a couple of updates coming soon that will answer many of these questions (think social intelligence and useful analytics), and we also allow you to create Facebook promotions and promotional videos from within the dashboard, which covers content marketing more than "normal" social dashboards.

But it's definitely an ongoing challenge and one we enjoy! :)

Okay so I think it is clear based on your blog post Hootsuite copied the feel and flow of JugnooMe, but I think this is okay as JugnooMe has copied Hootsuite service, Just saying! But at the end of the day another great blog Danny.

@JohnFitzgerald Hi John,

Oh, for sure, we're just having a bit of fun - as I mention in the post, we see Hootsuite more as friends, or peers. So, no hard feelings there.

Though I would disagree on the "copying service". There are only so many ways any company can create a social dashboard - it's why Hootsuite, Seesmic, Tweetdeck and our own platform look similar when it comes to Twitter streams, etc.

However, we're much more than just social feeds and some analytics. jugnoome 's vision far outreaches that, with true Business and Social Intelligence and Social Commerce a part of the equation, which none of the other social dashboards - Hootsuite included - are doing.

Choosing a setting for a video, though - well, there are literally thousands of different looks to create. ;-)

So, definitely different. Cheers, John!
