When Jason Calacanis, the CEO of human powered search engine Mahalo, recently had to lay off 10% of the company’s employees he seemed to be genuine in his sadness. An email to his employees and a post on his blog attested to how difficult the decision was, and that he was truly sorry for needing to make this decision. If that’s really the case, why is he splashing out $109,000 on a sports car and asking Twitter users to try and pitch the story to the media?
